RENO, Nev. — Nevada Women's Golf standout
Gabby Kano and former Wolf Pack star
Leah John have officially punched their tickets to the 2025 U.S. Women's Open, tying for medalist honors at a qualifying event held at Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, California.
Kano, a sophomore from Fullerton, Calif., continued her remarkable season by firing rounds of 65 and 70 for a two-round total of 135 (-7). She was matched at the top of the leaderboard by John, the Canadian standout and Nevada alum, who mirrored Kano's scorecard with her rounds of 65 and 70 to share the top spot.
Their efforts secured two of only three qualifying spots available and commandingly capped off a competitive field. For Kano, the qualification marks the most significant milestone of her young career, adding to a season already highlighted by consistent finishes and leadership on the course. It marks John's return to elite competition, further validating her strong post-collegiate form.
Both players will now prepare to compete on the game's biggest stage at the U.S. Women's Open, scheduled for May 28 to June 1, 2025, at Erin Hills Golf Course in Hartford, Wisconsin.
