PALM DESERT, Calif. – The Nevada Women's Golf team wrapped up the first round of the Alice & John Wallace Classic at Monterey Country Club Course, finishing the day in 15th place with a team score of 301. Gabby Kano led the way with a stellar even-par 71, placing her in the top 10 individually after the opening round.
Kano set the pace for Nevada, carding four birdies en route to her top-10 performance. Her consistent ball striking and ability to navigate the course's tight fairways and undulating greens put her in a strong position heading into the next round.
Raesa Sheikh followed closely behind, finishing at +1 (72) after a steady round that featured key up-and-downs and clutch par saves to keep Nevada in contention.
Anna Shultse posted a 78 (+7), showing resilience throughout her round. She maintained composure, making key pars on the back nine to keep her score manageable.
Nikki Chindavong turned in an 80 (+9), displaying flashes of brilliant shot-making, particularly around the greens. A strong finish in the next round could help boost the team's standing.
Amy Na battled through the challenging course conditions to post an 87 (+16), gaining valuable experience in tournament play. Her positive mindset and determination will be key in the upcoming rounds.
