Gabby Kano carded 11 birdies over the first two rounds of the Molly Invitational at Bayonet & Black Horse Golf Course in Monterey, and sits tied for sixth at one-under (71-72=143) on the individual leaderboard.
Kano battled well in a stacked field, and will start Tuesday morning's final round five strokes off the pace set by the trio of Stanford's Paula Martin Sampedro, Oregon State's Kyra Ly, and San Francisco's Riana Mission.
Nevada finished the day seventh in the 11-team field, sitting at +25 (297-304=601). The Wolf Pack got off to a quick start, sitting tied for first with Stanford at the turn of the opening round, and closing the first round at +9 behind Kano's 71 and a 74 from
Raesa Sheikh.
Nikki Chindavong put together rounds of 75 and 76 to finish the day 27th at +7. Sheikh (74-80=154) and
Anna Shultse (77-77=154) are tied for 41st, while
Marina Nonaka, in her collegiate debut, is 46th at +12 (77-79=156).
