FORT COLLINS, Colo. -Â Led by career-low rounds from
Gabby Kano and
Nikki Chindavong, Nevada Women's Golf finished at even par and sits fifth after the first day of the Colonel Wollenberg Ptarmigan Ram Classic.
Kano opened well with a five-under 67 in the morning, with
Anna Shultse going even par to help Nevada to a round of 289 (+1).
It was Chindavong who caught fire in the afternoon session, firing a bogey-free 66 to lead the way.
Nevada went one-under for the afternoon session, finishing the day right at even par (289-287=576) and in fifth place in the 11-team field.
Chindavong, at -5 (73-66=139), sits in eighth place, five back of individual leader Alice Johansson of Washington State. Kano is tied for 13th at -3 (67-74=141).
Shultse is 25th at one-over (72-73=145) while
Raesa Sheikh sits in 38th after firing a two-over 74 in the second round to bounce back from an opening-round 77.
Amy Na was disqualified in her opening round, and shot 79 in the afternoon.
Tuesday's final round will begin with a 7 a.m. shotgun start.
