Wolf Pack announces 2024 non-conference slate

RENO, Nev. – Nevada Volleyball will hit the road four weekends in a row to start the 2024 season. The non-conference schedule features a handful of opponents from 2023 as well as a new pair of power conference teams.

The team's first season under Head Coach Shannon Wyckoff-McNeal will kickoff in Portland before heading to California for back-to-back weekends. The non-conference schedule will finish up in Florida, being the team's first trip to the Sunshine state since the turn of the century.

Rose City Showdown
The non-conference slate begins with the California Golden Bears at 2 p.m. on August 30. Nevada will take on San Francisco on August 31 at 2:30 p.m. before closing the weekend with the hosts Portland State on September 1 at 1 p.m.

The season opener will mark the fourth season in a row that Nevada and California face each other and their first neutral site match against each other since 1988.

Nevada currently has a three-match winning streak against the San Francisco Dons with the last match up between the schools being in 2021.

This will be Nevada's first trip to Portland since the Pack defeated Portland State, 3-0, in 2019.

Roadrunner Classic
Nevada's second weekend features two opponents from 2023 in Seattle and Oregon State. The Pack begins the weekend in Bakersfield with Seattle at 2 p.m. on September 5 followed by a 1 p.m. match against the Oregon State Beavers on September 6. The weekend will end with the host CSU Bakersfield at 6 p.m. on September 7.

The Pack pushed both Seattle and Oregon State to five-set matches in their 2023 meetings.

The trip to Bakersfield will be a first for Nevada but will be the fourth meeting all time between the Pack and Roadrunners, a series that Nevada leads 2-1.

Riverside Classic
The Pack returns to the Riverside Classic, playing matches at California Baptist and UC Riverside. The tournament will open against CSUN at 11 a.m. on September 13 before a quick turnaround to a 6 p.m. match against California Baptist on the same day. Nevada will make the eight-mile journey to UC Riverside to take on the Highlanders at 1 p.m. on September 14.

Nevada is riding a five-match winning streak against CSUN dating back to 1995. The streak includes three victories since 2019.

The Pack have faced the Lancers of California Baptist twice, both going to a fifth set. The Pack were victorious in their 2019 meeting in Reno.

Nevada is 5-1 all-time against UC Riverside, including the 3-0 win against the Highlanders last season.

UCF Tournament
The Pack's final non-conference will be the Wolf Pack's first trip to the Eastern Time Zone since 2008 and the farthest East the Pack has traveled since 1998.

The two-day tournament features two power conference opponents in UCF and Maryland. Nevada will match up against UCF at 3 p.m. on September 19. The Friday doubleheader will begin at 9 a.m. against Maryland and end with another 3 p.m. match against UCF.

Nevada has only matched up against UCF once in their history, with a 1990 match in Tampa, Fla.

Similarly, the Wolf Pack and Maryland Terrapins have only played each other once, in a 2010 game in Columbia, Mo.

Following the weekend in Orlando, the Wolf Pack will return home for the Mountain West opening weekend at home against Wyoming and Colorado State on September 26 and 28, respectively. Season tickets for all nine home matches at Virginia Street Gym start at $65 for adults, $55 for seniors (55+), and $30 for youth packages. Single-game tickets are $7 for general admission, or $5 each for groups of 20 or more. Fans can purchase tickets at MyNevadaTickets.com or by calling (775) 348-PACK.
