Women's Golf Trevor Marbut - Associate Director of Athletic Communications

Registration Open for Third Annual Patty Sheehan Golf Tournament Presented by Bobos

RENO, Nev. - Registration is officially open for the third annual Patty Sheehan Golf Tournament, presented by Bobos Ski Board Patio. The event is slated to take place on Monday, August 19, and this year's tournament will be held at Lake Ridge Golf Course in Reno, Nevada.

Legendary former Nevada Women's Golfer Patty Sheehan will be in attendance for the event. Participation will cost $250 per person and $1,000 for teams of four, with all proceeds going directly to the Nevada Women's Golf program. The two previous Patty Sheehan Golf Tournaments both proved to be tremendously successful, helping raise nearly $30,000 for the Wolf Pack Women's Golf program.

Individuals and groups seeking to participate may register at the following link: https://shorturl.at/by136 or by visiting the Nevada Women's Golf page at NevadaWolfPack.com.

A three-time high school state champion at Wooster High School in Reno, Patty Sheehan helped establish the women's golf team at the University of Nevada, practicing with the men's team and representing the Wolf Pack before the school had an official women's golf team. An accomplished amateur, she won three straight Nevada State Amateurs (1975-78) and two straight California Amateurs (1977-78) before finishing second at the 1979 U.S. Women's Amateur. For the Wolf Pack, she finished in the top 10 at the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) championship twice before transferring to San Jose State. She won the AIAW crown in 1980 and was named the Broderick Award winner that year as the top collegiate women's golfer.

Patty Sheehan went on to have an exceptional professional career competing on the LPGA Tour, as she was named the 1981 LPGA Rookie of the Year, won 35 LPGA Tournaments including the 1983 & 1984 LPGA Championship, and was named the 1983 LPGA Tour Player of the Year. Patty Sheehan won six major events throughout her career on the LPGA Tour.

In addition to the Nevada Athletics and the LPGA Tour Hall of Fame, Sheehan has also been inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame, the Collegiate Golf Hall of Fame, and the National High School Hall of Fame.

On top of her incredible accomplishments on the course, Patty Sheehan established two endowments last year along with co-founder of Nevada Women's Golf, Robbin Rose. The two endowments help support our women's golf scholarships and operations at Nevada. If interested in contributing to either endowment, contact Quinton Conaway, Assistant AD, Development at vconaway@unr.edu or at (775) 682-6974.
