RENO, Nev. - The Nevada Basketball program and Head Coach Steve Alford have officially announced the addition of Chuck Bailey III, a 6'5", 185-pound guard who spent last season playing for Evansville.
"Chuck is an athletic and physical guard that can play multiple positions in the back court," said Alford. "He really competes and brings a toughness that I really like. He has three years of eligibility remaining and his overall development has an incredibly high ceiling. Chuck has been impressive in the classroom and is a high character individual."
Bailey will join Kobe Sanders, Brandon Love, and Xavier DuSell as the fourth transfer player to sign with the Wolf Pack ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Bailey had a tremendous freshman campaign for Evansville this past season, earning Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman Team and All-Bench Team honors for his exceptional play throughout the year.
Bailey appeared in 34 games throughout the season with one start. He averaged 8.4 points and 2.6 rebounds per game, while shooting 40.9 percent from the field, 35.2 percent from behind the arc, and 81.3 percent at the free throw line.
Bailey reached double figures in scoring in 11 contests during the season, and he achieved the mark in three consecutive games in mid-December. Bailey scored a career-high 27 points on 10-17 shooting from the field, 2-6 from behind the arc, and a perfect 5-5 at the free throw line against Missouri State in November (11/29/23).
He had another exceptional performance against Tennessee Tech (12/20/23), scoring a game-high 18 points on 6-9 shooting from the field, including a perfect mark of 2-2 from behind the arc, while also grabbing four rebounds, dishing out two assists, and tallying one steal, leading Evansville to an 82-51 victory.
Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Bailey was rated as a four-star recruit by ESPN coming out of Hamtramck High School. As a senior, he averaged 21.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, earning Third Team All-State and First Team All-Area recognition for his superb play.
Bailey will have three years of eligibility remaining with Nevada.
