CLOVIS, Calif. – Nevada Track and Field left it all out on the track Saturday afternoon, coming away with a fourth-place finish with 64.25 points to wrap the 2024 Outdoor Mountain West Championships. This marks the Pack's fourth time finishing fourth overall in the standings (2017, 2019, and 2022), tying their highest finish at the outdoor championships seeing numerous all-time list marks to highlight their outing.
The field events kicked things off Saturday afternoon for Nevada.
Valeria Paez Rueda represented the Pack in the high jump, reaching a mark of 1.63 meters, being just off her personal record mark she reached two weekends ago (1.65m). With her mark Paez Rueda tied for eighth. In the triple jump,
Rayven Nealey secured a spot in the final, seeing her furthest distance of 12.46m in her first three attempts. In her next three, Nealey was able to capitalize on her momentum and end the final with a new personal record mark of 12.94 meters, remaining second all-time in school history and ending her career with a fourth-place finish, scoring five points for the Pack.
Maria Paz Milani (11.99m) and
Meekness Dogonyaro (11.91m) came away with 10
th and 12
th place finishes overall.
The 4x100 meter relay squad made up of Bonét Henderson,
Magdalene George,
Annalies Kalma, and
Natasha Chetty secured a fourth-place finish in a time of 45.14, scoring five points. With this time, the team rewrote the second all-time mark set in 2023 with relay team Bonét Henderson,
Emily Costello,
Rayven Nealey, Lilly Gregg at last year's Mountain West Championships, where they ran a time of 45.15.
Madelyn Shipman posted a time of 4:41.73 in the 1,500 meters, placing 13
th overall. In the 100-meter hurdles,
Sarah Marske earned a seventh-place finish with a time of 13.73 to put two more points on the board for Nevada. In her first individual event of the afternoon, Kalma posted a new personal record time of 54.16, breaking her previous best set in the prelim of the event (54.21) to continue to sit in second all-time and finished sixth, giving the Pack three more points to their overall total.
Representing the Pack in the 100-meter dash, George, competing in her second event of the afternoon, came away with a sixth-place finish to score three points in a time of 11.54.
Halyn Senegal recorded a fifth-place finish in the 800 meters, posting a time of 2:07.03 and contributing four points. In her third event of the afternoon, George just missed the podium in the 200-meters final, recording fourth place in a time of 23.28, picking up five points.
Natalia Martino competed for the Pack solo in the last individual event of the day in the 5,000 meters. Martino posted a time of 18:11.01, finishing 30
th.
Wrapping the three-day slate of competition in Clovis, the 4x400 meter relay squad of Kalma,
Kylee Parsons,
Melia Middleton, and Senegal etched their names on the Nevada all-time list in second after running a time of 3:40.05, placing fifth in the event.
The Pack will rest up and fuel up, continuing their postseason to focus their sights on the NCAA West Preliminaries May 22-25 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
