Nevada Finishes Tied for Fifth, Earns Silver State Series Victory After Excellent Final Round Performance

CRESWELL, Ore. - After recording the third-best final round score of any team on Sunday, the Nevada Men's Golf team advanced three spots on the leaderboard on their final day of competition at the 2024 Mountain West Championships, as they completed the tournament  tied for fifth in the 11-team field.

The Pack had three golfers shoot even-par or better in the third round, as they carded a score of 287 (-1) to bring their 54-hole score to 865 (+1).

Nevada finished tied for fifth along with Fresno State, and the Pack earned a Silver State Series victory, as they earned a comeback victory over intrastate rival UNLV, completing the event three strokes ahead of the Rebels after trailing them by three strokes entering the final round.

Keita Okada carded a 74 (+2) on Sunday, and he finished tied for 13th overall at even-par, leading the way for the Pack, as he secured the best finish of his career since joining the Nevada program ahead of the 2022-23 season. Okada was exceptional throughout the event, as he recorded two rounds of even-par or better, despite facing difficult weather conditions. The senior closed out the event by tallying 11 pars and three birdies during the final round.

Enrique Dimayuga had his best round of the three-day event on Sunday, carding a 70 (-2) to advance 13 spots on the leaderboard and finish tied for 26th overall at +2. Dimayuga was exceptional on the front-nine during the final round. The senior picked up a bogey on the first; but, he responded with four pars and four birdies, as he entered the back-nine at -3.
