Coupu earns All-Mountain West Singles honor, Coupu-Kadiri named to All-Mountain West Doubles Team

RENO, Nev. – Nevada Men's Tennis duo
Matheo Coupu and
Youssef Kadiri both earn All-Mountain West honors. Coupu is collecting the third all-conference singles award of his career, as well as his first doubles honor. Kadiri earns the first conference award of his career.

Coupu, a native of Treillières, France, finished the Mountain West season with a 3-1 record. Coupu totaled 11 singles victories, including six dual victories. Coupu's singles season was highlighted by a 7-6, 6-3 victory over No. 114-ranked Ryan Torres of UC Davis.

The Nevada senior's Mountain West slate began with a straight-set victory over Air Force's Phillip Deaton, 6-1, 7-5. Coupu followed up his victory at Air Force with a home win against San Diego State's Johannes Seeman, coming back from down a set, winning 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Coupu finished the regular season defeating UNLV's Anton Ornberg, 6-4, 6-4 tying the dual against the Rebels, before the Wolf Pack's Silver State series victory. Coupu is the second player since the Wolf Pack's move to Mountain West to be named to three all-conference singles teams.

Continuing their 4-2 streak to end the 2023 season, Coupu paired with
Youssef Kadiri for the 2024 spring season. Coupu and Kadiri went 9-2 together in dual matches, all of which came in the top-flight. The Wolf Pack duo clinched four of the Pack's eight doubles points. Coupu and Kadiri defeated Murphy Cassone and Martin Vergara, 6-4, to clinch the doubles point at No. 22 Arizona State. Coupu and Kadiri clinched the doubles point again the next day, defeating Gerhard Sullwald and David Wekesa, 6-3, at GCU. Nevada's top pair clinched the doubles point one more time for Nevada, defeating Diego Jarry and Paulo Etchecoin, 6-4, to win the point over Saint Mary's.

Coupu and Kadiri won ten matches together this season, bringing their career total to 16 prior to the Mountain West Championships. The duo's 16 wins is the sixth most by a duo in Wolf Pack history. Coupu and Kadiri are the fifth different pair to be named to the All-Mountain West Doubles Team.

The Wolf Pack begin their Mountain West Tournament on Wednesday, April 24 at 5 p.m. PT against No. 4 seed San Diego State. The Pack defeated the Aztecs earlier this season, 4-2, in a match that spanned over two days and was filled with drama. The conference tournament will be held at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, Nev. The match can be watched live
