RENO, Nev. – Nevada Men's Tennis alumni Moez Echargui and Victor Ouvrard were named to the Mountain West's 25th Season Men's Tennis Team, announced by the conference Monday. Back-to-back Mountain West Players of the Year and teammates from 2011-2014, Echargui and Ouvrard dominated the Mountain West for years, climbing the Nevada record books.
Â
Ouvrard joined the Pack in 2010 from Tours, France, making an immediate impact for Nevada, playing No. 1 and No. 2 doubles for the Pack. Ouvrard won ten singles matches for the Pack in his freshman season, the second most on the team. Ouvrard quickly moved up to flight two singles in his sophomore season. In 2012, Ouvrard was notched a second-team all-WAC singles honor with his 19-11 record. In his junior season, Ouvrard played top-flight singles as co-captain of the team. Winning 18 matches, Ouvrard was named to the All-Mountain West singles team in 2013.
Â
In his senior year, Ouvrard posted a career-best 23-5 record in singles, tied for the seventh most wins in a Nevada season. Ouvrard also impressed in doubles, going 21-5 with Robert Allan, the most victories by a duo in Nevada history. His 44-10 overall record earned him the Mountain West Player of the Year title, the first in program history. Ouvrard was named to his second All-Mountain West Singles Team and the third conference singles team award of his career. Ouvrard and Allan were named to the 2014 All-Mountain West Doubles Team. Ouvrard became the first player in Nevada history to receive an automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Championships. Ouvrard was also named the ITA Mountain Region Senior Player of the Year for his record-breaking season.
Â
Echargui joined Ouvrard and the Wolf Pack in 2011 from La Marsa, Tunisia. Echargui immediately broke into the Nevada lineup, playing in the third flight. Echargui was named WAC Freshman of the Year with his 17-11 singles record. Moving to the Mountain West, Echargui continued his success with the Pack. In 2013, Echargui won 16 singles matches as well as 15 doubles matches. In his junior season, Echargui was 19-8 in singles play, earning his first conference honors when he received an All-Mountain West Singles Team nod.
Â
Only improving, Echargui tallied 20 singles victories in his senior year with Nevada, giving him a career total of 72, tied for the most in program history. In 2015, Echargui was named Mountain West Co-Player of the Year, making it back-to-back Player of the Year titles for the Wolf Pack. Echargui also earned his second straight All-Mountain West Singles Team honor.
Â
Ouvrard and Echargui sit next to each other on the all-time Nevada career wins list. Echargui, with his 72 victories, sits atop the list with Laurent Garcin, while Ouvrard's 70 victories place him third all-time in Nevada history.
