LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Wolf Pack was fueled by all-time list marks and personal records Friday afternoon at the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa and the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, wrapping the day with six all-time list appearances and 17 personal records scattered across both competitions.
Bryan Clay Invitational
To start the day off,
Valeria Paez Rueda would see a new personal record in the long jump with her mark of 5.40 meters, placing eighth in the event. With two events left in the heptathlon, after five, Paez Rueda sat in ninth with 3,630 points heading into the javelin throw.
Paez Rueda continued her personal record party, throwing for a distance of 34.09 meters, placing fifth, to conclude the final field event in the heptathlon. Before the 800 meters, Paez Rueda moved up two spots from her previous position in the standings to seventh with 4,184 points.
Rounding out the final event of the day, Paez Rueda ran a time of 2:28.70 in the 800 meters, finishing ninth. She would place ninth overall in the final standings, achieving a new personal record mark of 4,893 points.
The open 800 meters was the first event competed in on the track for the Pack.
Kylee Denver saw a new personal record time of 2:13.42, finishing 96
th.
Mary DeMartini (2:16.99) and
Madelyn Shipman (2:18.20) also claimed new personal record times placing 172
nd and 198
th respectively.
Beach Invitational
On the track, all of the events the Pack competed in will conclude Saturday, as only the latter half of the heats in the specific event were ran Friday afternoon. The field events are similar with the triple and long jump, the earlier flights competed in on Friday while the remainder of the flights conclude Saturday.
(This applies to all events except javelin)
The javelin quad had a successful outing Friday afternoon with three athletes earning top-15 finishes and all seeing new personal records.
Emily Poole (47.39m) led the way to secure 11
th, becoming the ninth-best mark in school history in the event followed by
Hallee Hughes in 12
th (47.34m), besting her previous mark to sit 10
th all time.
Lilly Urban, one of Nevada's mid-year additions, saw a new Nevada personal record (47.12m), just missing the Nevada all-time list with her mark, claiming 13
th.
Izzy Steerman (40.15m) finished 30
th.
In pole vault,
Samantha Irwin represented Nevada in flight one, securing a mark of 3.46 meters.
Alyssa Carson (3.61m) and
Shayla Pedersen (3.46m) competed in flight two.
Magdalene George sped to a new personal record in the 100 meters with a time of 11.64, besting her previous (11.67) and claims sole possession of sixth all-time in school history. Her time put her first overall at the conclusion of Friday afternoon. Bonét Henderson earned an eighth-place finish (12.28) while
Sarah Marske (12.40) came in 13
th.
Annalies Kalma (54.97),
Kylee Parsons (56.92), and Lilly Gregg (57.59) finished one after the other in second, third, and fourth.
In the 800 meters,
Hannah Lee represented the Pack solo, placing 21
st in a time of 2:21.04, coming just shy of her personal record (2:20.26).
Rayven Nealey and
Natasha Chetty led the way in flights one through six, taking the top-two spots in the standings at the conclusion of the day. Nealey saw a mark of 5.95 meters while Chetty earned a new personal record mark of 5.84 meters.
In her second event of the day, George moved up on the all-time list for the second time Friday, running a new personal record time of 23.64 to claim third all-time in school history in the event. Kalma (24.48) came in just behind her followed by Chetty (24.35) who earned a personal record and Parsons (24.97), securing a new personal record. Gregg (25.19),
Melia Middleton (25.77),
Kylie Burton (25.83), and Nealey (26.23) rounded out the Pack.
Meekness Dogonyaro and
Maria Paz Milani shined for the Pack in the triple jump, the duo earning new personal records and spots on the Nevada all-time list in the event. Dogonyaro (12.68m) moved her way up from fifth all-time to fourth while Paz Milani remains sixth all-time (12.57m). Nealey, in her second event of the day, saw her furthest height at 12.12 meters.
