Nolan Wilson named Mountain West Player of the Week

RENO, Nev. - Nevada's Nolan Wilson was named Mountain West Player of the Week Monday, after helping the Wolf Pack to a 2-1 mark last week.

Wilson batted .462 (6-for-13) with a 1.346 OPS, hitting a home run, two doubles, and driving in seven runs over Nevada's midweek victory at Pacific and a split of the first two games of its weekend conference series against Air Force. Saturday's series finale was halted with two outs in the top of the sixth with Nevada leading, 5-2, so stats from that contest were not considered in the conference's weekly honors.

The big week began last Tuesday as Wilson posted his fourth three-hit game of the campaign, going 3-for-5 with five RBIs and a two-run homer in the Wolf Pack's 7-2 win at Pacific.

He doubled twice and drove in another run, while scoring the first of Nevada's two runs in the pivotal bottom of the 11th against Air Force. Wilson finished 2-for-4 in the Pack's 5-4, 12-inning win.

For the season, Wilson is batting .303, and ranks second on the team with 23 RBIs and third in hits (27) and runs scored (16).

The 2-1 week helped Nevada get back to .500 for the season at 12-12, and, at 7-4 in Mountain West play, the Wolf Pack is just a game and a half behind Fresno State for the conference lead.

Following a midweek home contest against Sacramento State Tuesday at 6 p.m., Nevada travels to Fresno for the pivotal weekend series against the Bulldogs. The series opener is set for a 6:05 p.m. first pitch.
