LAS VEGAS - Competing in a loaded 13-team field at The Show at Spanish Trail in Las Vegas, the Nevada Women's Golf team completed the first two rounds of competition in the 11th position on the team leaderboard at +24.
The Pack had a stellar first round performance, as they carded a 294 (+6) for the first round, placing them in a tie for sixth-place entering the second set of 18 holes. Nevada struggled in the afternoon round, recording a score of 306 (+18) to complete the day in 11th place.
Leah John led the way individually for the Pack. She opened up the event in tremendous fashion, carding a first round score of 71 (-1), as she completed the first set of 18 holes tied for fifth overall. John shot 76 (+4) for the second round, and she will enter the third and final round tied for 20th in the individual standings.
Anna Shultse carded rounds of 75 (+3) and 76 (+4) for the day, placing her in a tie for 42nd overall on the individual leaderboard with 18 holes to go.
Freshman Payton Lovisa matched Shultse's 36-hole score, as she also recorded rounds of 75 (+3) and 76 (+4) for the day. Lovisa is tied with Shultse in the 42nd position heading into the third round.
Gabby Kano started off her day in strong fashion, recording a score of 73 (+1) for the opening round. Kano carded an 81 (+9) for the second round, as she finished the day tied for 62nd at +10.
Nikki Chindavong rounded out the Wolf Pack lineup, firing off rounds of 79 (+7) and 78 (+6) to close out the first day of competition tied for 69th in the individual standings.
Nevada will return to the course tomorrow morning for the third and final round of The Show at Spanish Trail.
