FRESNO, Calif. - Anna Shultse recorded the second best 54-hole score of her career (216) to finish tied for fourth place, and the Nevada Women's Golf team used an outstanding final round performance to take ninth place at the Fresno State Classic in a loaded field of 21 teams.
The Pack closed out the Fresno State Classic by carding a 292 (+4), bringing their 54-hole score to 890 (+26), as they secured the ninth-place finish in a highly competitive field of teams.
Shultse led the way for Nevada, securing her second top-five finish of the season after completing the event at even par (216). Shultse, the lone Wolf Pack golfer to finish all 18 holes of the second round on Monday, recorded a score of 74 (+2) for the third and final round Tuesday.
Shultse had a consistent final round for the Pack, as she tallied 16 pars and two bogeys across the final set of 18 holes. The sophomore averaged 14.7 pars per round throughout the event, as she was incredibly consistent in all three rounds for Nevada.
Fellow sophomore Gabby Kano had a prolific final round performance for Nevada, as she was instrumental in helping the Pack secure the ninth-place finish. Kano completed her second round this morning, and she entered the final round tied for 38th at +6. She proceeded to card a score of 70 (-2) for the third round, advancing her 19 spots on the leaderboard and into a tie for 19th with a 54-hole score of 220 (+4).
Kano was sensational to start the final round, reeling off three consecutive pars before recording four straight birdies. Kano went on to tally nine pars and two bogeys over the final 11 holes, as she closed out the event with her best round of the tournament to earn another top-20 finish.
After struggling in the second round, Leah John bounced back to turn in a stellar final round performance on Tuesday. John entered the third round at +10 after carding an 80 for the second round. The fifth-year senior responded in a significant way, recording a score of 72 (E) for the final round. John bogeyed the first hole of the round; but, she immediately responded with a birdie on the second hole, before going on to tally 16 straight pars to end the round. John concluded the event with a 54-hole score of 226 (+10).
Nikki Chindavong recorded a score of 77 for the third round, placing her in a tie for 68th overall at +13 for the event.
Payton Lovisa closed out the Fresno State Classic by carding a 76 (+4), as she finished the tournament tied for 79th at +16.
Competing as individual participants, Kaitlin Fleiner and Raesa Sheikh completed the Fresno State Classic tied for 92nd at +20.
