RENO, Nev. - The Nevada Men's Golf team is set to enter a critical stretch of the season, beginning with a trip to Tucson, Arizona to compete at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate, hosted by Arizona at Tucson Country Club.
Tournament Info
The Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate is a two-day, 54-hole event beginning on Monday morning (March 18) and concluding on Tuesday afternoon (March 19). Golfers are slated to play two 18-hole rounds on Monday, prior to closing out tournament play with one final round on Tuesday.
The Field
The Pack are set to compete in another highly talented field over the next two days. Outside of Nevada and host school Arizona, the 14-team field consists of Central Arkansas, ACU, Long Beach State, Sacramento State, UTEP, Wyoming, George Washington, New Mexico, Utah Valley, Denver, and New Mexico State.
The Course
Tucson CC is a par-72 course spanning over 7,000 yards. A lengthy course full of challenging bunkers and subtle breaks on the greens, Tucson CC is a difficult course for golfers of all levels.
Projected Lineup
Enrique Dimayuga
Dimayuga has been impressive since joining the Wolf Pack program ahead of the spring season, and he will be at the forefront of the Nevada lineup over the next two days. Dimayuga finished second in the Wolf Pack lineup and tied for 66th overall at the Prestige at PGA West. Dimayuga finished the event at +4, and he carded his best round of the tournament throughout the opening set of 18 holes, recording a score of 71 (-1). Dimayuga had a highly impressive performance at The Saticoy Showdown, earning a tie for third place at the event. Dimayuga will aim to carry over his strong play from The Saticoy Showdown and have an impressive outing for the Pack at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate.
Supakit (Oak) Seelanagae
Seelanagae competed in the Pack's first event of the spring, The Prestige at PGA West, as an individual participant, where he had an impressive outing. In the individual portion of the event, Seelanagae finished tied for 21st at +1. He had his best round of the event on the final day, carding a 70 (-2) to close out the tournament. Seelanagae has shown impressive flashes all year for the Pack, and he will have an opportunity to make an instrumental impact for Nevada at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate.
Liam Gobin
Gobin had an outstanding outing at The Prestige at PGA West to commence the spring season, earning a tie for 17th at -4, leading the Wolf Pack lineup. Gobin fired off rounds of 68, 70, 71, as he shot even par or better all three days of the event. Gobin has had a solid first year for Nevada and will seek to maintain that trend with another impressive outing at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate.
Tom Patterson
Patterson has been a consistent presence for Nevada the past two seasons, and the senior will tee it up in the fourth position in the Wolf Pack lineup at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate. Patterson had a strong fall; and, after struggling at The Prestige at PGA West, he will aim to bounce back with a robust performance for the Pack over the next two days.
Jonathan Kim
The freshman returns to the Wolf Pack lineup and will aim to have another stellar outing for Nevada. Kim finished tied for 72nd in the Pack's first event of the spring after carding a 54-hole score of 218 (+5). Kim had his best performance of the event in the second round, as he shot 70 (-1).
