Nevada soccer earns Best Video Feature in 2023 United Soccer Coaches Media Contest

RENO, Nev. - Nevada soccer has been awarded Best Video Feature in the 2023 United Soccer Coaches Media Contest, United Soccer Coaches announced earlier this month.

The winning feature was "Vanessa Valentine – U.S. Women's Beach National Team Feature", sharing Nevada head soccer coach Vanessa Valentine's journey to playing on the U.S. Women's National Beach Soccer Team. The video can be viewed here.

Making its digital debut in April 2023, the piece was edited and produced by Assistant Director, Strategic Communications and Sports Information Director for Nevada soccer, Grant Cohen. Nevada was the only NCAA Institution to receive a 2023 Media Contest award from United Soccer Coaches.

"This is an incredible honor for Nevada soccer and Wolf Pack Athletics. We are grateful to United Soccer Coaches for giving us this outstanding achievement," Cohen said. "I would like to thank Coach Valentine for allowing Wolf Pack Athletics and I to share her great story to a national audience. I am honored that this story received national recognition and blessed that it will help elevate Nevada soccer in the near future."

The United Soccer Coaches annually recognize writers and reporters with work published in a newspaper (daily or weekly), magazine, website, television broadcast, or blog covering soccer from across the country. Freelance writers published in newspapers, magazines or as special features can also submit published articles.

All the award winners can be viewed here.

Nevada soccer is coming off one of the best turnaround seasons in program history under Valentine's first season. Winning just three games the previous season, the Pack collected their most wins since 2015 with six and qualified for its first Mountain West Tournament since 2013.

The Pack will play a handful of spring matches starting in late March, including matches at Mackay Stadium with free admission. Nevada soccer will announce the spring portion of its schedule at a later date.
