RENO, Nev. - Former Nevada women's basketball student-athlete Teige Zeller has signed a professional contract with the Perth Lynx of the Women's National Basketball League as a development player.
The former All-Mountain West honoree enters her sixth professional basketball season in 2023-24 and will play with her third professional team in Australia. Zeller started her pro career in the NBL1, playing for the Southern Tigers from 2018-22 and later signing with Joondalup Wolves.
Based in Perth, Australia, the Perth Lynx are a professional basketball team founded in 1988 and compete in the WNBL. In addition to Zeller, the twin sister of Nevada guard Claire Jacobs, Amy, also signed with the Lynx as a development player for the 2023-24 season.
As a pro, Zeller started her pro career by being named to the Premier League's All-Star Five and earned the league's MVP award in 2019. In 2021, she helped the Southern Tigers to the NBL1 Central Grand Final Championship and earned NBL1 Central Grand Final MVP honors in the process. She was named NBL1 Central MVP and to the All-Star Five during the regular season in 2021.
At Nevada, Zeller was a four-time All-Mountain West Academic Team member and Scholar-Athlete recipient. Nevada's 2018 Woman of the Year nominee was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District VII Second Team as a senior.
On the court, Zeller accumulated 12 double-doubles during the 2017-18 season and led the Pack to a championship game run in the 2018 Mountain West Tournament. Zeller capped off her Nevada career with 14.2 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game en route to All-Mountain West honors.
Nevada begins the 2023-24 campaign with an exhibition game Sunday, Oct. 29 at Lawlor Events Center against Cal State East Bay at 1 p.m. Nevada returns nine letterwinners from the previous season, including three of its top four leading scorers from 2022-23 (Lexie Givens,
Audrey Roden,
Victoria Davis). The Pack will also welcome eight newcomers, including a pair of graduate transfers from Division I schools to go with six freshmen.
