Box Score LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Nevada's season came to a close on Saturday evening after falling to Fresno State in the first round of the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championships, 74-57.
Despite a third quarter surge, Nevada's early struggles proved too much to come back from. Nearly every area besides shooting from the floor and from beyond the arc were even. Fresno State only grabbed one more rebound, 34-33.Â
Fresno State's 11 threes helped decide the outcome as Nevada only had one.Â
The Pack started slow as the Bulldogs opened the game with a 13-0 run. Nevada failed to get on the board until four minutes in off of a free throw by
Skylar Durley.Â
Nevada continued to struggle to contain Fresno State through the remainder of the first half as it fell into multiple scoring droughts.Â
The Pack began to find some rhythm in the third quarter with a 13-0 run and the Bulldogs falling into a scoring drought of over three minutes. Nevada went from being down by as much as 19, to cutting the lead to five.Â
The third was the only quarter where Nevada outscored Fresno State, with 25 points to their 18.Â
Quarter four was slow for both teams to start, Nevada getting the only two points in the first two-and-a-half minutes. However, Fresno State created distance once again after a 6-0 run.
Durley led all players in scoring with 19, followed by
Ahrray Young with 16.
Makayla Carter led the Pack in rebounds with seven.Â
