GREENVILLE, S.C. - In her first tournament with the Pack, Nevada Women's Golfer Anna Shultse took third place after finishing seven shots below par (209), while Leah John finished tied for seventh at -2, fueling Nevada to a sixth place finish in their season-opening tournament at the Lady Paladin Invitational.
Nevada improved their team score each round throughout the event, carding a 289 (+1) over the final set of 18 holes, as they recorded a 54-hole score to 876 (+12) to earn the sixth-place finish.Â
Shultse was sensational in her debut tournament for the Pack, finishing at even par or better in all three rounds. She closed out the event by carding a 71 (-1) after recording 13 pars, three birdies, and two bogeys. The third-place finish is the first of her career, as well as the first top-three finish by a Pack women's golfer since The Clash at Boulder Creek in October, 2023.Â
John also had an exceptional season-opening tournament for Nevada, earning the ninth top-10 finish of her career, along with her first since The Clash at Boulder Creek (10/2023).Â
John carded a 70 Sunday for the second consecutive day, as she finished the event four shots below par (74-70-70=214). The fifth-year senior had 13 pars, two birdies, two bogeys, and one eagle on the par-5 15th hole.Â
Sophomore Gabby Kano finished third in the Wolf Pack lineup for the event, recording a score of 76 for the final round, placing her in a tie for 54th at +10. Kano had eight pars and three birdies throughout the final round.Â
Raesa Sheikh had her best round of the weekend Sunday, carding a 73 (+1) on the final day of competition at the Lady Paladin Invitational to finish the event tied for 65th. Sheikh had 11 pars and three birdies in the third round.Â
Kaitlin Fleiner rounded out the Nevada lineup; and, similar to Sheikh, she had her best round of the weekend to close out the tournament. Fleiner shot 75 (+3) on Sunday after tallying 12 pars and one eagle on the par-5 13th hole. Fleiner finished the event tied for 92nd on the final leaderboard.Â
Individual Participants
Competing as an individual participant, freshman Nikki Chindavong had an impressive collegiate debut for the Pack. Chindavong finished tied for 49th overall at +9 after carding a 75 (+3) on Sunday. Chindavong had 13 pars and one birdie in the final round.
