Shultse’s Sensational Day Paces Pack at Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Making her debut appearance for the Pack, Nevada Women's golfer Anna Shultse had an outstanding first round outing at the Lady Paladin Invitational, matching the second-best single round score in program history by carding a 66 (-6) to open the event. Shultse will enter the second round on Saturday in sole possession of first place on the individual leaderboard in a field of 99 golfers. 

As a team, Nevada completed the day tied for seventh at +7 after recording a combined score of 295.

Starting her round on hole 2, Shultse was exceptional from start to finish. She parred the first three holes of the round before tallying a birdie on the par-4 fifth hole. The sophomore picked up two more pars before recording her second birdie of the round on the par-3 eighth hole. 

After two more pars, Shultse had a tremendous stretch over the next four holes, beginning with back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 12th holes. She then tallied an eagle on the par-5 13th hole, before earning another birdie on 14. 

Shultse closed out her round with two bogeys, a par, and a birdie to complete the day at -6.

Leah John finished second in the Wolf Pack lineup and tied for 32nd overall after carding a 74 (+2) in the opening round. Beginning on hole one, John was +2 entering the back nine, where she proceeded to tally seven pars, one birdie, and one bogey, finishing at even par over the final nine holes to complete the day at +2. 

Raesa Sheikh shot 77 (+5) in the first round, placing her in a tie for 65th, while Gabby Kano came in right behind her, carding a 78 (+6) to finish the day tied for 71st. 

Sheikh tallied seven pars and four birdies throughout the day, while Kano had 11 pars and one birdie. 

Kaitlin Fleiner rounded out the Nevada lineup, recording an 80 (+8) for the first round, placing her in a tie for 84th overall.

Individual Participants

Competing as an individual participant, freshman Nikki Chindavong had a solid debut performance for the Pack, finishing the day tied for 57th after recording a 76 (+4).
