BREMERTON, Wash. - The Nevada Men's Golf team commenced the 2023 Husky Invite with an exceptional first round performance, carding a combined score of 285 (-3). The Pack was at even par in the second round when play was suspended for the day.
Tom Patterson had an immaculate first-round outing, matching the second-best score of his career by carding a 68 (-4), placing him in a tie for fourth after the first 18 holes. The senior tallied four pars on the front nine, including three over the final four holes. He picked up five pars and one bogey across the first six holes on the back nine, before earning birdie on the par-3 16th hole and proceeding to finish his round with a par on the 17th and an eagle on the par-4 18th hole. Patterson recorded a score of 77 (+5) in the second round, and as the leaderboard currently stands, he is tied for 35th at +1.
Alex Maxwell also had a stellar first round performance, carding a 69 (-3) and tying for seventeenth as he concluded the first set of 18 holes. Maxwell had two birdies and an eagle on the par-4 sixth hole on the front nine, and he proceeded to tally three birdies, five pars, and just one bogey on the back nine. Maxwell was +1 in the second round through 16 holes when play was suspended. He is currently tied for 12th on the individual leaderboard.
Keita Okada finished third in the Wolf Pack lineup for the first round, firing a 73 (+1). The senior was +2 on the front nine; however, he tallied six pars, two birdies, and a lone bogey on the back nine, finishing the first round at one shot over par. Okada was even through 14 holes in the second round when play was suspended, and he earned an eagle on the final hole he completed. Okada is currently tied for 35th overall at +1.
Supakit (Oak) Seelanagae carded a 75 (+3) across the first 18 holes, and he was +2 through 16 holes in the second round when play stopped. The junior is tied for 60th at +5.
Freshman Jonathan Kim shot 77 (+5) in the first round, before bouncing back with a career-best score of 69 (-3) in the second round. Kim's stellar performance included 12 pars, three birdies, and one eagle. The freshman is tied for 42nd on the individual leaderboard.
Husky Individual Invitational
Making their debut appearances for the Pack in the individual competition, Ryan Sear and Aaron Leach each completed 36 holes at -1, placing them in a tie for 18th.
Sear shot an even-par 72 in the first round, before carding a one-under-par 71 (-1) in the second round, while Leach recorded a 73 (+1) across the first set of 18 holes and proceeded to shoot 70 (-2) in the second round.
Liam Gobin is currently 48th in the individual competition after carding an 80 (+8) in the first round and a 71 (-1) in the second round.

Next Up
Nevada will return to the course tomorrow morning at 7:15 a.m, as individuals who did not complete the second round will pick up where they left off. The third and final round will commence following the completion of the second round.
