RENO, Nev. - Nevada football, volleyball, soccer, men's golf and cross country compete in an action-packed Labor Day Weekend. Here is what is going on this week in Wolf Pack Athletics. 

Soccer
After traveling to Idaho Thursday to conclude its August schedule, Nevada soccer competes in its home opener at Mackay Stadium Sunday at 11 a.m. against UC Riverside. Led by Luz Arreaga and Gabby Brown with two goals each, Nevada is looking to get its first win under first-year head coach Vanessa Valentine

Tickets for Sunday's home opener start at just $7 online and the first 75 students will receive free DoughBoys Donuts. In addition to the traditional interactive activities for fans, Nevada soccer will be debuting the Air Raid Siren pregame before kickoff and any time Nevada scores a goal. 

Idaho, who is 3-1 on the season, defeated Nevada in Moscow 1-0 in 2022 to take the series lead. UC Riverside is searching for its first win of the season and has had scoreless draws in two out of its last three matches.

Men's Golf

Nevada Men's Golf is set to kick off the 2023-24 season on Sunday at the Marquette Intercollegiate in Erin, Wisconsin. Nevada brings back three key contributors in Keita Okada, Tom Patterson, and Alex Maxwell, while also bringing in a plethora of new talent to complement the strong core of returning players. The Pack will have a challenging first event, as the Marquette Intercollegiate features an exceptional field of teams, including California, Cincinnati, Penn State, Purdue, and Texas A&M, among others.  


Volleyball 
Nevada volleyball will continue their 2023 campaign on the road at the Eastern Washington Invitational in Cheney, Wash. Friday, the Pack will play in a doubleheader starting at 10 a.m. against Pacific followed by a 7 p.m. match start against host Eastern Washington. On Saturday, the squad will play their final match of the invitational Saturday taking on Seattle at 11 a.m.

Cross Country
Nevada men's and women's cross country open their 2023 season at the USF Invitational Friday, September 1 at 2:00 p.m. at Golden Gate Park. This is the first time both squads are traveling back to compete in this meet since the 2021 season where the men finished fifth with 125 points and the women sixth with 146 points.
