RENO, Nev. — Nevada Women's Soccer came up short in its home opener on Sunday, falling 2–1 to Sacramento State.
The Hornets struck early, converting in the 12th minute and again in the 21st minute to take a two‑goal lead into halftime. Nevada responded with renewed energy in the second half, pushing the tempo and creating chances as it looked to level the match.

Ella York buried her first career goal for the Wolf Pack, cutting the deficit to 2–1 and shifting momentum toward Nevada. Both teams battled through the final stretch, but Sacramento State held on through the closing whistle.
Nevada now turns its attention to upcoming road contests against Seattle U on Thursday, August 27 and Portland State on Sunday, August 30, beginning a two‑match trip to the Pacific Northwest.
