SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Nevada women's golfer Victoria Gailey completed the first round of competition at the NCAA Regionals in San Antonio, Texas, where she tied for 52nd overall after carding an 80 (+8) throughout the opening round.
Playing at TPC San Antonio, known for being one of the more challenging courses on the PGA Tour, Gailey started off her round with a bogey on the par-4 1st hole, before bouncing back to earn a par on the 2nd hole and tally a birdie on the par-3 3rd hole.
Gailey tallied her second bogey of the round on the par-4 5th hole; but, she secured a par on the 5th hole. Back-to-back bogeys on holes 6 and 7 put Gailey at three shots above par through seven. She proceeded to close out the front nine with two consecutive pars.
On the back nine, Gailey tallied one birdie, three pars, and five bogeys to finish the day eight shots above par.
Gailey will have the opportunity to significantly advance up the leaderboard Tuesday with a strong outing, as she sits just five shots outside of the top-23.
Gailey is slated to tee off for the second round at 6:55am Tuesday morning.
