RENO, Nev. - The Nevada Men's Golf team is set to begin play at the Tiger Collegiate Invitational in Columbia, Missouri on Monday morning with a shotgun start scheduled for 7am.
The Tiger Collegiate Invitational is a two-day, 54-hole tournament, as golfers are slated to play two 18-hole rounds on Monday, prior to closing out tournament play with one final 18-hole round on Tuesday morning.
The 2023 Tiger Collegiate will mark the sixth time that the tournament has been held, as well as the first time that Nevada has competed in the event.
The Field
In addition to Nevada and host school Missouri, the 14-team field includes Kansas State, Marquette, Arkansas State, Iowa State, Minnesota, Rutgers, Lipscomb, Michigan, Nebraska, ULM, Wyoming, and Illinois.
The Course
The Club at Old Hawthorne is a par-72 spanning 7,221 yards. The course plays over rolling terrain with multiple water hazards lurking. The fairways are known for being very wide; and, a multitude of them have strategically-placed center fairway bunkers, splitting up the wide fairways.
Projected Lineup
Trey Davis
Davis will lead the Wolf Pack lineup at the Tiger Collegiate Invitational Monday and Tuesday. The fifth-year senior finished tied for 111th at The Goodwin in his most recent appearance; but, he had his best round of the event on the final day of competition, closing out the tournament with an impressive 68 (-2). Davis aims to carry over his stellar play from the final round at The Goodwin and have a complete performance at the Tiger Collegiate.
Peyton Callens
Callens had a solid performance in the Pack's most recent outing, finishing tied for 48th at The Goodwin after recording a 54-hole score of 214 (+4). Callens shot 69 (-1) in the first round and carded a 71 (+2) in the second round of the event. Callens will have the opportunity to build significant momentum heading into the final tournament of the regular season with an exceptional outing at the Tiger Collegiate Invitational.
Keita Okada
Okada finished tied for 117th at The Goodwin with a three-round score of 222 (+12). Okada has managed to shoot even par or better in at least one round in all three events that he has competed in this spring. The Junior will seek to have his best finish yet at the Tiger Collegiate Invitational.
Alex Maxwell
Maxwell did not have his best performance at The Goodwin, finishing tied for 146th overall; however, he had an exceptional outing competing as an individual participant at the Redhawk Invitational this past Monday and Tuesday. The freshman finished tied for fifth at the event after carding a 54-hole score of 213 (E). Maxwell shot 66 (-5) in the second round and 71 (E) in the final round to earn the top-five finish. He will look to have a similar performance Monday and Tuesday at the Tiger Collegiate Invitational.
Tom Patterson
Patterson returns to the lineup after competing at The Goodwin as an individual participant. Patterson finished tied for 177th at The Goodwin with a 54-hole score of 222 (+12). He had his best round in the first round of the tournament, carding a 72 (+2).
