COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - After an outstanding week of play, Nevada Men's golfer Alex Maxwell has been named the Mountain West Men's Golf Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Thursday.

Competing in a highly competitive field at the Tiger Collegiate Invitational, Maxwell finished first in the Nevada lineup and tied for 29th overall, after recording three consecutive rounds below par. 

Maxwell had an exceptional start to the event, carding a 71 (-1) over the first 18 holes of play. The freshman proceeded to follow up the strong start by recording a 71 (-1) in the second round, putting him two shots below par after 36 holes. 

Maxwell concluded the Tiger Collegiate Invitational with his best round of the event, carding a two-under-par 70 (-2) to close out the tournament, as he finished the event with a three-round score of 212 (-4).

Maxwell accumulated 11 birdies and 36 pars across the 54-hole tournament.

Maxwell and the rest of the Nevada Men's Golf team will return to the course on Friday, April 21, as they are set to compete at the PING Cougar Classic in Provo, Utah, hosted by BYU.
