Pack Finishes 11th at Tiger Collegiate Invitational

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Nevada Men's Golf team carded their second round below par at the Tiger Collegiate Invitational Tuesday, as they moved up one spot on the team leaderboard to finish in 11th place at the highly competitive event.

The Pack shot 287 (-1) Tuesday, marking the first time this spring that Nevada has recorded two rounds below par in the same tournament, as they also shot 287 in the first round.

Alex Maxwell had another tremendous day for the Pack to close out the event, as the freshman carded a 70 (-2) in the final round to finish tied for 29th overall with a 54-hole score of 212 (-4).

Maxwell started off his round on the 14th hole, where he earned a par  before bogeying the 15th hole. He went on to par six straight holes prior to bogeying the 4th hole, which put him at two shots above par halfway through the round.

Maxwell proceeded to significantly elevate his game, responding to the bogey with back-to-back birdies on holes 5 and 6. Maxwell then parred holes 7-9 before earning another birdie on the par-5 10th hole. The freshman parred holes 11 and 12 before sinking his fourth birdie of the round on the final hole to finish the day at two shots below par.

Maxwell's immaculate performance marked the first time that the freshman has recorded three consecutive rounds below par in an event.

Trey Davis maintained his stellar play from the second round, as he closed out the tournament by carding a 70 (-2) to finish tied for 41st on the individual leaderboard with a three-round score of 216 (E). Davis parred the first five holes of the round before picking up back-to-back bogeys on holes 2 and 3. Davis parred the 4th hole and then earned back-to-back birdies on holes 5 and 6 to get back to even par with eight holes to go.

Davis picked up another bogey on hole seven; but, he went on to birdie three of the final seven holes while parring the other four to finish the round two shots below par.

Peyton Callens shot 77 (+5) on the final day, bringing his 54-hole score to 218 (+2) and placing him in a tie for 47th overall.
