Gailey Earns Top-Five Finish, Pack Takes Ninth at Fresno State Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - Victoria Gailey closed out the 2023 Fresno State Classic by carding a one-over-par 73, fueling her to a tie for fifth place on the final leaderboard, as she secured her fourth top-five finish in seven tournaments played this year. 

Gailey sank three birdies and tallied 11 pars throughout the final round, as she moved up five spots on the leaderboard over the final 18 holes of play to earn the top-five finish. She completed the event with a 54-hole score of 219 (+1).  

The Pack took ninth place overall on the team leaderboard, accumulating a three-round score of 907 (+42).  

Anitra Khoth also had a strong performance throughout the tournament, carding a 75 (+3) in the final round to move up seven spots on the leaderboard and complete the event tied for 16th overall. Khoth had a consistent tournament, shooting 74, 75, and 75. She picked up two birdies and 11 pars over the final 18 holes of play. 

Leah John and Kaitlin Fleiner each finished the third and final round tied for 64th on the individual leaderboard.  

John shot 80 (+8) on the final day, bringing her 54-hole score to 235 (+19), while Fleiner recorded an 83 (+11) throughout the final round which also brought her three-round score to 235 (+19).  

Gabby Kano closed out the Nevada lineup, shooting a 79 (+7) on the final day to complete the tournament with a combined score of 237 (+21), placing her in a tie for 73rd overall.  

Competing as an individual participant, Kayla Nocum capped off one of her best performances of the season by carding a 77 (+5) over the final 18 holes, placing her in a tie for 13th in the individual standings. Nocum accumulated two birdies and 10 pars in the final round. 

Raesa Sheikh, who also competed as an individual participant, carded an 82 (+10) on the final day, and she finished the event tied for 55th overall with a three-round score of 233 (+17). 

Host school Fresno State claimed the team victory, recording a combined score of 887 (+23) to earn the outright win by five strokes, while UC-Riverside's Tiffany Le secured the individual championship after recording a 54-hole score of 214 (-2).  

Up Next 

The Pack will have a short break before returning to California to compete at the Silicon Valley Showcase, hosted by Santa Clara at the Green Hills Country Club in Millbrae, California. The two-day tournament is slated to begin on Monday, April 10.
