Following a sensational playing career at Nevada, Teige Zeller waited patiently for an invitation to join a professional basketball team in the fall of 2018.

When teams in Europe began filling their rosters in October and no calls were made to the All-Mountain West player, she questioned whether her dream would become a reality.

Prayer, persistence and preparation paid off for the Nevada women's basketball alum a month later, receiving an offer to play professionally in Australia. She will be entering her fifth season as a professional basketball player in 2023.

"That process was interesting and it was definitely challenging with the mind games that I played with myself," Zeller said. "I kept wondering, 'Am I going to be able to do it? Does anyone want me?'. I was fighting through that every day and getting up and still going to practice day in and day out with my husband. Lo and behold my ultimate dream opened up and it's been amazing."

At Los Lunas High School in Los Lunas, New Mexico, Zeller blossomed into a five-sport student-athlete and found her greatest success on the hardwood. Playing for her father, Marty, the 6-foot-3-inch basketball star was a four-time All-State selection and was named MVP of the New Mexico Activities Association state tournament twice.

She received a plethora of scholarship offers, including Texas Tech, Arizona State, Oregon, and Colorado. When then-Nevada head coach Jane Albright made the trip to Los Lunas, Zeller committed to join the Pack and packed her bags for the 14-hour drive to Reno.

In her first three years as a member of the Pack, Zeller scored 460 points while making 41 starts in 89 games. Off the court, Zeller thrived in her Fellowship of Christian Athletes community and was named to the All-Mountain West Academic Team every year at Nevada.

Embracing new head coach Amanda Levens and her new foundations on the program as a senior, Zeller's work ethic turned up a notch. She made the commitment to wake up at 5 a.m. every morning, get an extra conditioning session in while touching her jumper up all before going to class and practice.

Her work ethic paid off as a senior, improving her scoring average from her junior year by 8.6 points per game. Accumulating 12 double-doubles during the 2017-18 season, Zeller capped off her Nevada career with 14.2 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game en route to All-Mountain West honors and a 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year nominee.

"When Amanda came in, I honestly couldn't have been happier. I was so pleased with the values that she wanted to instill in us as a team. She was tough, but it set me up for the professional world, where it's intrinsic motivation and has to have great mental toughness. I was going to embrace whatever coach walked in, but I definitely feel I was very blessed to have been Amanda."

Prior to her senior season, Zeller made the decision that she wanted to play basketball professionally overseas and her circle was in full support. Her brother, Weston, gave Zeller a FIBA basketball for Christmas in 2017 (one that she still has today) while Levens played an instrumental role helping her get noticed by pro scouts.

After spending time with the Southern Tigers, Zeller signed with the NBL1's Joondalup Wolves prior to the 2022 season. She earned team MVP honors by averaging a double-double of 21.6 points per game and 11.1 rebounds per game.

Zeller has not only used her basketball experience from Nevada overseas, but has utilized her journalism degree for her off the court career. The Cum Laude Nevada graduate served as the Brand & Marketing Coordinator for the Wolves in 2022, often making final score and team MVP graphics from the locker room following each game after the final buzzer.

When Zeller returned to the United States over the holiday break in 2022, she made her broadcast debut as a color commentator for Nevada Sports Net during Nevada's home game against San Jose State.

Preparing for another professional season in 2023, Zeller remains grateful for how Nevada molded her as a player and person.

"When I look back on my time in college, it was a positive shift for me," Zeller said. "I just wanted to make the most of every single day. I had the right people around me and I couldn't have been happier."
