RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada Women's Golf team is set to begin the 2023 spring season this Monday in Palm Desert, California, at the Mountain Classic Match Play, hosted by Wyoming.
The Mountain Classic Match Play will span two days, with golfers beginning play Monday morning and finishing competition Tuesday afternoon.
The Field
In addition to Nevada and host school Wyoming, the eight-team field includes Boise State, Northern Arizona, Montana State, Portland State, Southern Utah, and Seattle University.
The Course
Originally opening for the PGA Tour's Bob Hope Classic from 2006-2008, the Classic Club is an Arnold Palmer Signature Design and has been home to numerous professional and competitive events. The course has numerous elevated tee boxes providing a 360-degree view of dramatic mountain vistas.
Projected Lineup
Victoria Gailey
Gailey is coming off of a sensational fall season in which she earned three consecutive individual titles to close out the year, and she will seek to carry over her phenomenal play into the spring season.
Gabby Kano
The freshman had an outstanding start to her collegiate career this past fall, earning three top-25 finishes and one top-10 finish at The Clash at Boulder Creek. Kano will look to build upon her excellent fall season with a strong showing to begin the spring season.
Anitra Khoth
The senior had an immaculate fall season, and she is coming off of a second-place finish at The Clash at Boulder Cleek in her last outing.
Leah John
John has put together an incredible career at Nevada and will seek to build upon an outstanding fall season in which she posted three Top-10 finishes.
Kayla Nocum
Nocum has had a solid career thus far for the Pack and will look to carve out a consistent role in the Pack lineup, starting with a strong outing to begin the spring season.
