Gabby McLaughlin and freshman
Tehya Maeva were named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Division I Academic All-District Team for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom as released Tuesday.

These are the first academic all-district honors of their careers for both McLaughlin (Public Health, 3.5) and Maeva (Exploratory, 4.0).

McLaughlin and Maeva were both also selected to be considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, where CSC members will vote on the national ballot for honorees to be selected to first, second, and third-team Academic All-America honors. Those student-athletes will be announced Jan. 9, 2024.

Wrapping up her sophomore year, McLaughlin was a primary outside hitter for the Pack, finishing the season with 76 sets played with totals of 206 kills, 147 digs, 21 service aces, and 246.5 points, making her the second-highest point scorer for Nevada this season. McLaughlin also reached 500 career points early during the season in September against Mountain West foe San Jose State while also earning a season-high 19 kills, tying for second-most of any Nevada player this season.

Freshman setter
Tehya Maeva made an immediate impact for Nevada this season, as she saw action in 83 sets this season totaling 556 assists, 216 digs, and 26 service aces. Maeva also reached the 500 career assists benchmark in October against Colorado State. She was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week (Aug. 28), the first conference honor of her career.
