RENO, Nev. - Nevada Volleyball head coach Lee Nelson announced the addition of assistant coach Norene Iosia Wednesday afternoon.

"Norene brings a wealth of very high-level playing experience," said Nelson. "Her knowledge and competitive spirit will be a great addition to our team, especially in mentoring and guiding our setters."

"I am humbled with the opportunity Coach Nelson has given me, to be a part of his coaching staff," said Iosia. "I am looking forward to getting back into the gym and competing at a high level with this squad and am excited just to be here and to share my passion for the game as well as life lesson's I've experienced throughout my volleyball career, with these young women."

Iosia joins the Pack in her first collegiate coaching position after playing professionally in Europe for three seasons, most recently with VC Kanti Schaffhausen in Switzerland. Iosia went on to win a gold medal representing American Samoa at the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea.Â

Prior to her professional stint, the Torrance, Calif. native worked as an assistant coach for three seasons with Mizuno Long Beach Volleyball Club, the club she represented for 11 years.

During her collegiate career at Hawai 'I, Iosia totaled 3147 assists, 1175 digs, 385 kills, 202 total blocks, and 139 services aces in 406 sets played in 113 matches. She was named to the 2019 AVCA All-Pacific North Region First Team, four-straight All-Big West First Teams, and was awarded the 2019 Big West Player of the Year. Iosia also played beach volleyball for the Rainbow Wahine, recording a 17-8 record over three seasons.

She graduated from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in sociology.Â
