This week in Wolf Pack Athletics

RENO, Nev. - Nevada soccer and volleyball take its show on the road this week in its quest for a spot in the Mountain West Tournament. Here is what is happening this week in Wolf Pack Athletics. 

Soccer
Nevada soccer is in Colorado this week, taking Colorado College Thursday and Air Force Sunday. The Pack collected four points in the Mountain West standings following its home matches at Mackay Stadium, drawing Fresno State 1-1 and defeating the defending conference champions, San Jose State, 2-0 Sunday. Nevada is currently in fourth place in the conference standings with seven points, seeking its first Mountain West Tournament berth since 2013. 

Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Ally Larkin earned Mountain West Defensive Player and Freshman of the Week and earned Honorable Mention on TopDrawerSoccer's top performances in women's college soccer for last week's matches. Larkin collected her second collegiate shutout in Sunday's match against San Jose State while coming up with a critical penalty kick save in the 88th minute that allowed the Pack to finish the Fresno State match with a draw.

Volleyball 
Nevada volleyball continues on the road, first traveling to Logan, Utah to take on Utah State Thursday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. at Wayne Estes Center. The Pack will then travel to Boise State Saturday, Oct. 7, taking on the Broncos at 11 a.m. at Bronco Gym. Heading into next week, Nevada will return home to Virginia Street Gym next Thursday, Oct. 12 going up against UNLV at 6 p.m. and San Diego State Saturday, Oct. 14 at 12 p.m.

Women's Golf
Following their most successful outing since October 2022, the Nevada Women's Golf team will return to the course on Monday, Oct. 9 when they are slated to begin play at the New Mexico State Golf Iconic Classic. The 2023 Golf Iconic Classic is a three-day, 54-hole event, featuring a superb 16-team field. The Pack are coming off an exceptional outing at the 2023 Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational where the team earned a second-place finish and Leah John secured the second individual title of her career. Nevada had three golfers (Leah John (1st) // Gabby Kano (T8) // Nikki Chindavong (T10)) finish within the top-10 on the final leaderboard. Nevada will aim to carry over that success at the Golf Iconic Classic. Live scoring will be available throughout the event at Golfstat.com.

Softball
Nevada softball opens up their fall season at home this weekend versus Pacific on Saturday Oct. 7 and Folsom Lake Community College on Sunday, Oct. 8.Both games will have a 1 p.m.start time and run 10 innings. Admission is free both days. These are the only home games until the Pack opens up regular season play in the spring.
