RENO, Nev. - Former Nevada soccer goalkeeper
Kendal Stovall (2018-22) was named to the Mountain West's 25th Season Soccer Team, the conference announced Tuesday.
Considered one of the best goalkeepers in program history, Stovall earned All-Mountain West honors twice, started 79 matches in the net and accumulated over 7,000 career minutes during her time for the Pack. Stovall finished her Nevada career by setting the program record for career saves (430), career goalkeeper minutes (7,183) and goalkeeper shutouts (13).
Her 430 career saves rank first among Mountain West goalkeepers all-time. Stovall led the Mountain West in saves three times (2019, Spring 2021, and 2022), and led the conference in saves five times in conference-only matches (2018-22).
Stovall had a .773 career save percentage along with 1.58 career goals against average during her five-year career, both in the top five in program history. She also accumulated the third-most career wins in program history with 17.
The Mountain West is celebrating its 25th season of excellence on and off the field of play and will recognize a 25th season team ahead of each sport's conference championship. From its inception in 1999, the Mountain West has been committed to excellence in intercollegiate athletics, while promoting the academic missions of its member institutions.
As a fifth year in 2022, Stovall led the Mountain West with 95 saves and was fifth in the conference in shutouts with five en route to being named to the All-Mountain West Second Team. Stovall's .779 save percentage in 2022 was good for the seventh-best in program history for a single season.
Stovall hit the ground running as a freshman in 2018, starting all 19 matches in the net and competed 1,750 minutes. Her freshman minutes are currently the fourth-most in a single season by a Wolf Pack goalkeeper. Named to the Mountain West All-Newcomer team, Stovall finished her first collegiate season with 99 saves and a .773 save percentage, both ranking eighth in program history for a single season.
Her sophomore season in 2019 was one of her best statistical performances at Nevada, setting a career-high with 117 saves. Her 117 saves earned her 12th among all goalkeepers in NCAA women's soccer for regular season saves and led the Mountain West in that category.
Starting all 18 matches in the 2019 season, the Mililani, Hawaii, native set a career-best mark for saves twice during the season with 12. Her 12 saves at Hawai'i (Aug. 29) and at UNLV (Nov. 1) were the most in a single match by a Mountain West goalkeeper in 2019. Her best match of her sophomore campaign came in the lone shutout of the year in a double-overtime win over Utah State, recording 10 saves in 104:32 minutes played.
Nevada soccer is coming off one of the best turnaround seasons in program history under first-year head coach Vanessa Valentine. Winning just three games the previous season, the Pack collected their most wins since 2015 with six and qualified for its first Mountain West Tournament since 2013.
