“When I Grow Up” game set for Jan. 23 against Colorado State

RENO, Nev. - Nevada women's basketball will play its annual 'When I Grow Up' game Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. at Lawlor Events Center against Colorado State.

Sponsored by the Nell J Redfield Foundation, doors will open at 9 a.m. and the Pack will provide fun, educational activities for students throughout the Lawlor Events Center concourse.

Schools wanting to sign up can do so now here.

The Pack reinstated its 'When I Grow Up Game' during the 2022-23 season, setting an attendance record for its "When I Grow Up" games of 5,656 fans Dec. 8 against Long Beach State. Hosting kids mostly from Washoe and Storey County, last season's game against Long Beach State was the highest-attended Nevada women's basketball game since Nov. 28, 2017 (vs. No. 1 UConn).

"We cannot wait to host our 'When I Grow Up' game once again this season and are thrilled we are able to play it during a Mountain West game," head coach Amanda Levens said. "The 'When I Grow Up' is a great way for our program to reach the community and provide a fun, educational experience for Northern Nevada's younger generation. This is a game our student-athletes look forward to every year and we can't wait to make this a positive experience for kids in Northern Nevada."

Nevada has been victorious in six out of its last seven 'When I Grow Up' games, averaging an attendance of 4,734 in the previous two 'When I Grow Up' games. This will be the first 'When I Grow Up' game in the last seven years that will be played during Mountain West play and in January.

Nevada returns nine letterwinners from the previous season, including three of its top four leading scorers from 2022-23 (Lexie Givens, Audrey Roden, Victoria Davis). The Pack will also welcome eight newcomers, including a pair of graduate transfers from Division I schools to go with six freshmen.

Season tickets are now on sale and start at just $65. Season tickets for youth (8th grade and under) start at just $25 while the Family Four Pack (two adults, two youth) are $37.50 per person. Students receive free admission with their Wolf Card. Click here for more information and to purchase tickets.

Nevada women's basketball has won over 480 games since its membership in the NCAA and has accumulated five postseason appearances. The Pack has had at least one player named All-Mountain West since joining the conference prior to the 2012-13 season. Entering her seventh season at Nevada, Levens has coached 10 All-Mountain West honorees, five professional players and guided the Pack to a pair of postseason appearances.

The Pack will begin the 2023-24 campaign with an exhibition game Sunday, Oct. 29 at Lawlor Events Center against Cal State East Bay at 1 p.m.
