SNOWBIRD, Utah – Sophomore Iver Naess claims the highest finish for the Pack during race two to earn seventh place, in a time of 1:36.07, to close out the final day of the Westminster Invitational Friday afternoon. This marks the first top-10 finish that counts towards NCAA Division 1 competition for Nevada.
"Our first NCAA races are in the books, and the team showed some good performances," said head coach Mihaela Kosi. "Congratulations to Naess for claiming the first top-10 result for the Wolf Pack! This is a huge motivation factor to the rest of the team, because now they know that it can be done."
Naess began the race sitting in 21
st after the first run (46.55). During the second run, Naess was able to move up after clocking a 49.52, the third fastest time in the field, to jump up to seventh place. Jeger Halbjoerhus finished in 25
th in the second race with a time of 1:40.56.
In race one, Andreas Smith earned 22
nd place (1:31.82), the highest finish for the squad, after posting a 42.83 in the first run, the ninth fastest time in the field. Halbjoerhus finished in 30
th place (1:32.90), while Naess finished in 31
st (1:33.51).
The Pack will continue competition at the Montana State Invitational on Monday, January 30 and Tuesday, January 31, competing in the giant slalom.
