Box Score EL PASO, Texas - Nevada women's soccer shutout its second opponent of the season in a 0-0 tie at UTEP at University Field on Sunday.
Fifth year goalkeeper Kendal Stovall recorded three saves and registered her 10th career shutout in the net. She now has the third-most career shutouts by a Nevada women's soccer goalkeeper.
The Pack only gave up three shots on goal to UTEP, marking the third time this season Nevada has allowed three shots on frame or fewer to its opponent this season.
"The defense was relentless," Stovall said. "No matter who was in the match or what UTEP did, we worked as a unit and everyone had great individual efforts. We couldn't be prouder to record our second shutout of the season thus far."
Each team collected a shot through the first 25 minutes, with Nevada only giving up two more UTEP shots in the first half. The Pack's defense forced the Miners into no shots on goal in the first 45 minutes and Nevada went into the locker room with a scoreless tie.
Five minutes after UTEP's first shot on goal of the day was saved by Stovall, senior forward Gabby Brown came up with her 115th career shot. Brown, who accumulated a season-high three shots on Sunday, is now seventh in program history in career shots.
UTEP fired a pair of shots on frame with under 15 minutes to go, but Stovall collected two more saves to keep the shutout intact. The Pack's defense forced the Miners to shoot their final three shots of the match off target that gave Nevada its second shutout in 2022.
Sunday's performance marked the second straight season Nevada did not give up a goal on the road.
Nevada returns to Reno for the conclusion of non-conference play, taking on Pacific on Thursday at Mackay Stadium at 6:30 p.m.
