CLOVIS, Calif. -Â Nevada Women's Track & Field earned its first team points of the 2022 Mountain West Outdoor Championships Thursday evening, behind the top-seven finishes of
Anna Maria Sommerfeld and
Hanah Smrt in the heptathlon.
The Pack finished the day with five points. Sommerfeld earned three points with her sixth-place finish, accumulating 4,828 points, with Smrt right behind her in seventh, with 4,770 points.
Kate Kadrmas finished 11th with 4,544 points. Colorado State's Lexie Keller captured the heptathlon with 5,834 points.
Sommerfeld highlighted the second day for the Pack with a second-place finish in the Javelin Throw. After her first two attempts came up just shy of 40 meters, Sommerfeld uncorked a throw of 40.11 meters on her final attempt.
Smrt (29.41m) took eighth in the event, with Kadrmas (29.24m) in ninth.
Smrt's top finish of the day came in the high jump, which led off Thursday's final trio of heptathlon events. She took fifth with a top mark of 5.63 meters. Sommerfeld was ninth at 5.29 meters and Kadrmas 11th at 5.24 meters.
In the event's finale, the 800 meters, Smrt topped the trio with a time of 2:27.82, good for seventh in the field. Kadrmas took 10th in 2:33.86 and Sommerfeld 11th in 2:38.18.
Through two events, Nevada is fifth in the team standings, with five points.
