Gailey, Pack set program records during final round at Mountain West Championship

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. - Victoria Gailey set a single-round program record (68) during the final round of the Mountain West Championships on Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Nevada shot 289 in the final round which is the lowest single-round score in Conference Championship program history. 

Victoria Gailey and Anitra Khoth led the Pack into a tie for 6th (+35), as the team posted its lowest single-round score in conference championship history (289) during the final round Wednesday. The Pack was the lowest team in the tournament during the final round of play today and the second-lowest round for the Championship. 

"It wasn't the performance we were hoping for but there were a lot of positives to take away from this week," said Head Coach Kathleen Takaishi. "We played great today! They showed a lot of perseverance and it was nice to end this week with a great round."
 
Coach Takaishi continued. "Anitra (Khoth) played solid all week. Victoria (Gailey) had a fantastic round today after a rough 18th hole the previous day. We have had a lot of success this year."

San José State won the title at four-under, New Mexico finished second (+26), Fresno State (+27) finished third, Boise State posted a fourth, No. 50 UNLV finished fifth, San Diego State (+35) and Nevada (+35) tied for sixth, Colorado State (+45) dropped one spot to finish eighth, and Wyoming (+68) ended in ninth. 

Gailey shot a circuit best four-under during the final 18 holes of play today, climbing 20 spots into a tie for 7th after rounds of three-over (75, Rd 1) and six-over (78, Rd 2). Her tournament concluded with the lowest score in the field (68) and a tying a program record set by Erin Long (Rd 1; 68) in the 2004 Western Athletic Conference Championships. 

The senior from Tigard, Ore., shot the lowest round in a Mountain West Championship in program history. Shooting one shot lower than the previous record set by Carly Simpson (3rd rd; 69) in the 2013 Conference Championships. 

Anitra Khoth had a solid final round sinking three birdies and posting an even-par 72 to close the championship tied for seventh. Leah John shot a two-over 74 in the closing 18 holes to finish tied for 18th (+10). Kaitlin Fleiner end the championship with a 75 (+3) to tie for 38th (+17) and Kayla Nocum (+25) finished 43 after an 82 in the final 18 holes of play. 

The Pack entered the Mountain West Championships in fifth within the conference and finish tied for sixth to close the season. It marks the second time in MW Championship history that Nevada has finished sixth in the event.
