RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – The Nevada women's golf team is 7th after the opening round of play in the Mountain West Championship at Mission Hills Country Club on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

The Pack shot 17-over after an opening-round 305 to complete the first round of play in the Mountain West Championships in seventh. No. 5 San José State is leading the field after shooting nine-under (279) through the first round. Fresno State is second (+3, 291), San Diego State is third (+8, 296), New Mexico is fourth (+9, 297), Boise State is fifth (+13, 301), No. 50 UNLV (+15, 303) is sixth, Nevada is seventh (+17, 305), Colorado State (+19, 307) is eighth, and Wyoming (+26, 314) rounds out the field in ninth.

Victoria Gailey and
Leah John paced the Pack with three-under (75) rounds to tie for 19th.
Anitra Khoth made three birdies and led the team through nine holes (-1) but five bogies on the back-nine dropped her to four-over (76) for the round. Khoth's early highlight was back-to-back birdies on six and seven.

Kayla Nocum is tied for 37th after an opening-round 79 to shoot seven-over through 18 holes. Â
Kaitlin Fleiner shot 81 for a nine-over round to conclude the day tied for 40th. Â
