Women's Basketball

Nevada travels to Hawaii for Maui Classic this weekend

Kiehi, Maui, Hawaii - Nevada women's basketball travels to Maui to take on Oregon State and Montana State in the Maui Classic starting Saturday at 6 p.m.

Larry Burnett will have the call on 94.1 FM and 1450 AM, with a 20 minute pregame show prior to tipoff. Fans can also listen live online through the Varsity Network. The game will be available to watch on the Oregon State Live Stream and live stats can be accessed through Stat Broadcast.

Nevada will meet the same two opponents it faced during their 2017 trip to the Maui Classic. After being defeated by No. 19 Oregon State on Dec. 1, 2017, the Pack bounced back with a win over Montana State the following day. This will be the first time Nevada meets both Oregon State and Montana State since the Pack's last trip to Maui.

Lexie Givens, Alyssa Jimenez, Megan Ormiston and Victoria Davis have contributed heavily in multiple categories recently for the Pack. Junior forward Givens produced back-to-back double-doubles for points and rebounds in the 2022 Nugget Classic on Nov. 25 and 27, earning All-Tournament team honors in the process. She was the first Nevada player since Terae Briggs in 2018 to post a double-double in back-to-back games.

Davis and Jimenez came up with double digit numbers in points and rebounds against Idaho on Dec. 3, becoming the first Nevada duo to collect a double-double in the same game since 2019. Ormiston picked up her first collegiate double-double (26 points, 11 rebounds) on Dec. 11 against Santa Clara, posting career-highs in both categories.

SCOUTING OREGON STATE
Oregon State has won two out of their last three games, with their only loss during that stretch coming to No. 17 Oregon. Winning by an average of 18 points in their last three games, Oregon State's only losses this season have come against teams from Power 5 conferences.

The Beavers have three players who average at least 10 points per game, led by Talia Von Oelhoffen with a 16.1 points per game mark while grabbing 5.6 rebounds per game. Reagan Beers averages 13 points per game while leading the team in rebounds, pulling down 7.9 boards per game. AJ Marotte has added production with 10 points per game.

SCOUTING MONTANA STATE
Montana State knocked off South Dakota State on Nov. 30, who was receiving votes in the top 25 polls, and has won two of its last three games. Averaging 70.1 points per game as a team, Montana State has won by an average of over 10 points in two of its last three games.

Darian White leads Montana State in scoring and rebounding, averaging 12 points per game while grabbing 5.8 rebounds per game. Leia Beattie adds production in Montana State's starting lineup, scoring 11.3 points per game while pulling in 3.7 boards per game.
