Nevada Volleyball releases 2021 fall schedule

RENO, Nev. - The Nevada volleyball team has released its 2021 schedule, head coach Lee Nelson announced this Thursday. 

"We have put together an exciting schedule this year," said head coach Lee Nelson. "We kick our season off at the University of Idaho tournament and open up with the University of Portland and their Head Coach Megan Burton, who was an Assistant here at Nevada for five seasons.  We launch our home season by hosting CSUN and Sacramento State in our own Nevada Classic tournament and then jump right into conference by hosting San Diego State and defending Mountain West Champion UNLV. We have a great crew this year and I am really looking forward to seeing them compete."

Nevada's schedule includes 30 matches, with 11 home matches and three away tournaments. 

The Wolf Pack season starts Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. with the Annual Silver and Blue Scrimmage, where fans can take a look at the 2021 team. The Pack will then drive to Stockton, for an exhibition match against Pacific Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. Due to Covid-19, the match will be closed to the public. 

Nevada will officially start its regular season at the Idaho Tournament Aug. 27-28, where the Pack will face Portland, Grand Canyon, and Idaho. 

The Pack will continue on the road to play at the UC Davis Tournament Sept. 3-4, with matches against UC Davis, Santa Clara, and San Francisco. 

In its final away tournament, Nevada travels to Berkeley Sept. 10-11 for the Cal Tournament, facing Cal, Butler, and North Dakota State.

The Wolf Pack makes its 2021 home debut at the Virginia Street Gym Sept. 16-18, hosting Sacramento State and CSUN for the Nevada Classic Tournament. 

Conference play consists of nine home matches, starting Sept. 23 against San Diego State. On Sept. 25, Nevada will host its in-state rival UNLV as part of the Silver State Series. The Pack travels to Logan, for a match against Utah State Sept. 30. Continuing on the road, Nevada travels to Boise State to face the Broncos on Oct. 2. 

The Pack returns home with a match against Colorado State Oct. 7. Nevada will remain home with a match against Wyoming Oct. 9. 

Following Wyoming, the Wolf Pack hits the road to face San Jose State Oct. 12 and Fresno State Oct. 17. Continuing on the road, the Pack will travel to Colorado to face Air Force Oct. 21. 

Nevada returns to the Virginia Street Gym, hosting New Mexico, San Jose State, and Fresno State on Oct. 23, 26, and 28, respectively. 

In the final stretch of the regular season, the Pack will travel to Fort Collins, Nov. 4 to face the Rams one more time. Nevada will then continue on the road, at Wyoming Nov. 6. 

The Wolf Pack will host Boise State Nov. 11 and then hold senior night against Utah State Nov. 13. 

Nevada will wrap up the regular season on the road, traveling to San Diego State Nov. 18 and UNLV on Nov. 20.
