dePolo, Palmer and Moretti set to compete at U.S. Olympic Trials

RENO, Nev. - Nevada swim and dive's Donna dePolo, Krysta Palmer and Evan Moretti will be competing at the 2021 United States Olympic Trials in June.

Palmer, a Nevada diving alum and current volunteer assistant coach for the Pack, will be competing in the synchronized 3-meter, 3-meter springboard, 1-meter platform and synchronized platform at the U.S. Diving Olympic Trials in Indianapolis on June 6-13. Director of Operations and Duke alum Evan Moretti will also be competing in the synchronized 3-meter, 3-meter springboard, 1-meter platform and synchronized platform at the U.S. Diving Olympic Trials.

"Krysta and Evan have been working so hard, and I believe they are ready to put together an amazing performance," said Nevada head coach Brendon Bray. "Anything is possible with the both of them. We wish them the best of luck."

Reno native and returning senior Donna dePolo will travel to Omaha, Neb., for the U.S. Swimming Olympic Trials on June 13-20. dePolo will be competing in the Wave II portion of the trials in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. dePolo made the Wave II Olympic cut in the 100 breaststroke, which also gives her an opportunity to race in the 200 breaststroke. dePolo will open up the trials on Monday, June 14, with the 100 breaststroke prelims, beginning at 8 a.m. PT. The top 16 times from prelims advance to the semifinals, which takes place later that evening. The top eight finishers from the semifinals advance to the finals on Tuesday, June 15. dePolo will then compete in the 200 breaststroke prelims on Thursday, June 17. The top 16 from prelims will swim later that evening to secure one of eight 200 breaststroke finals spots. The 200 breaststroke finals will take place on Friday, June 18. The top two finishers from the final heat in each event make the U.S. Olympic Team.

"Donna and I will be traveling to Omaha next Saturday. Donna is riding an incredible wave of improvement over the last six months. Donna's recent improvements rivals anyone in the country over the course of the past six months," said Bray. "She is going to the meet to compete rather than for the experience. I'm so proud of her and excited for all three of these individuals to represent our program at the highest level."

There have been six Olympians throughout program history: Natalia Pulido (Spain, 1992), Lise Mackie (Australia, 1992-96), Chavisa Thaveesupsoonthorn (Thailand, 2004-08), May Ooi (Singapore, 1992), Limi Liu (China 1996-2000) and Diana Sokolowska (Poland, 2012).

NBC will air all 12 nights of the swim trials. Dive will be aired on the Olympic Channel on June 8-11 and NBC on June 12-13.
