Nevada finishes in sixth at the MW Outdoor Championships

CLOVIS, CALIF. – With a successful first two days under their belt, the Wolf Pack finish in sixth place at the MW Outdoor Championships. The final day saw plenty of new all time marks and medal winners.

The first medal of the day was won by senior Nicola Ader. She won her third medal of the weekend in the high jump with her height of 1.77 meters. This height also earned the team six points, which brings Ader's point total to 27 for her team. 

The 4x400m relay team won the other medal of the day, and set an impressive mark. Senior Lauren Green, sophomore Emily Costello, freshman Lilly Gregg, and freshman Raegan Gorzeman finished the meet with a time of 3:44.17. This time was not only good enough to win them the bronze medal, but also put them at second all-time at Nevada in the event. The result earned them six team points.

Another Nevada all-time mark was set earlier in the day, this one being a school record. In the 400m dash final, Emily Costello who competed in three events today broke the school record with her time of 53.89. The time also put her at fifth overall in the finals and earned the team four points. 

Costello also moved into the all-time list in the third event she competed in. The 4x100m saw Lauren Green, Lilly Gregg, and senior Brooke Carson, join Costello in tying the Nevada fifth all-time mark in the event. The group finished with a time of 46.24 and earned four points for the team.

The javelin throw had all four of the Wolf Pack athletes qualify for the finals. Ader finished in fourth in the meet with a distance of 42.48m. This earning the team five points. Sophomore Anna Maria Sommerfeld finished in seventh with a distance of 40.35m. Earning the team two points. Freshman Luisa Fischer earned the team a point with her distance of 39.00m. Lastly, junior Gaia Osborne who hasn't competed in two years finished in ninth with a distance of 38.88m. 

The last team points of the day came from sophomore Rayven Nealey, who competed in the triple jump. Not only did Nealey qualify for finals, but she finished in fourth in the event. With her distance of 12.53m, Nealey finished with a top-four finish and earned the team five points. 

Lastly, some distance runners competed in different events. Sophomore Tabatha Walford competed in the 1500m finals. The sophomore finished in 12th with her time 4:40.31. Freshman Tierney Wolfgram competed in the 5000m, where the freshman would finish in 14th with her time of 16:49.08.

The Pack would finish the championships in sixth place with their point total of 55. The NCAA Outdoor prelims look to compete starting on May 26 .
