Box Score SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Nevada volleyball team saw its winning streak come to an end as the Wolf Pack fell to San José State 3-1 at the Spartan Gym on Friday afternoon.
Nevada fell to 3-6 on the year while SJSU improved to 2-6. The same two teams will run it back on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Freshman
Alyssa Zuro paced the Pack with 15 hills while
Reka Monteleone had 13 and
Kassie McGill added 12.
Andrea Alcaraz recorded 17 digs to go along with her 37 assists.
Kaila Spevak reached double figures in digs with 10.
Nevada hit .205 for the match compared to .327 for the Spartans.
Nevada got off to a sluggish start early in the match, hitting just .128 and .205 in the first two sets. Yet, the Pack's defense did keep the team in the hunt as the first set went extras before Nevada fell, 30-28. SJSU took set two, 25-23, to go up 2-0.
But the Pack came strong in the third set, hitting .343 to take the 25-23 win. The Pack had 16 kills to go along with five aces in the set to pull within 2-1.
San José State roared back strong it the fourth set, however, to win 25-16 for the match victory.
