RENO, Nev. -Â Nevada men's tennis hits the halfway point of its eight-match home stand, and hosts its Mountain West opener, during this weekend's two-dual set at McArthur Tennis Center.
The Pack (4-5, 0-0 MW) begins the weekend with its Mountain West opener Friday at 1 p.m., hosting Air Force (4-4, 0-0 MW), before welcoming UC Davis (6-4) for a non-conference dual Sunday at 1 p.m.
Nevada, winners of four of its last six duals, plays its first regular-season conference dual in almost two years with Friday's match against trhe Falcons. The Pack's 4-1 loss at Fresno State back on April 20, 2019, was its last such dual, as the 2019-20 conference campaign was canceled last March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This season's Mountain West duals will take on added significance as the 2021 conference title, and automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament, will be determined via regular-season standings. The Mountain West Board of Directors announced last June 1 that, as part of 2020-21 cost-containing measures in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the men's and women's conference tournaments would be eliminated.
Nevada will host Sacramento State next Wednesday in its final non-conference dual of the season, before closing the regular season with six-straight conference duals, beginning April 3 against New Mexico.
