HURRICANE, Utah – Inclement weather in Utah has canceled the final round of the BYU Spring Classic, making the Monday results official and giving Victoria Gailey the first individual win of her career.
 
In 36 holes of play on Monday, Gailey had a near perfect day on the course as she totaled seven birdies between her two rounds to just three bogeys. In round one she tied her career-low round, shooting a 4-under 68 to slide into the individual lead. She collected 14 pars in the second round to finish with an even par 72 and remain at 4-under for the tournament. With the final round canceled, Gailey earns a two-shot victory over Iowa's Jacque Galloway. Gailey and Galloway were the only two players in the field of 85 to finish under par.
 
This is the first individual win of Gailey's career and is the first individual win by a member of the Wolf Pack since Kaitlin Collom won the Cowgirl Classic in 2017.
 
Gailey's strong play on Monday helped the Wolf Pack to a season-best third place finish in the 14-team field. Nevada combined for a team score of 296 in the morning yesterday and 304 in the afternoon to finish the event at 24-over par. The top two teams in the field separated themselves from the rest of the field as Texas Tech won the tournament at 5-over par, three shots better than runner-up Iowa.
 
Junior Maddy Zunino and sophomore Leah John both earned a top 25 as they finished rounds one and two at 7-over par. Zunino fired a career-low round of 74 in round one and posted a 77 in round two to jump into a tie for 21^st place, which is a career-best finish. John meanwhile shot a 3-over 75 in the morning and posted a 76 in the afternoon to also post a career-best finish. Sophomore Anitra Khoth tied for 44^th place at 14-over par and freshman Kathleen Keomahavong tied for 78^th.
 
Nevada will return to action April 5-6 at the Cowgirl Classic in Maricopa, Ariz.
