HURRICANE, Utah – After 36 holes of the BYU Spring Classic, junior
Victoria Gailey leads the individual field at 4-under par.
Gailey had a near perfect day on the course as she totaled seven birdies between her two rounds to just three bogeys. In round one she tied her career-low round, shooting a 4-under 68 to slide into the individual lead. She collected 14 pars in the second round to finish with an even par 72 and remain at 4-under for the tournament. Gailey will take a two-shot lead over Iowa's Jacque Galloway into Tuesday's final round. Gailey and Galloway were the only two players in the field of 85 to finish day one under par.
Gailey's strong play on Monday helped the Wolf Pack into third place in the 14-team field with one round remaining. Nevada combined for a team score of 296 in the morning and 304 in the afternoon and is currently 24-over par. The top two teams in the field have separated themselves from the rest of the field as Texas Tech sits at 5-over par and has a three-shot lead over second place Iowa.
Junior
Maddy Zunino and sophomore
Leah John both sit in the top 25 with 18 holes left as they finished rounds one and two at 7-over par. Zunino fired a career-low round of 74 in round one and posted a 77 in round two to jump into a tie for 21
st place. John meanwhile shot a 3-over 75 in the morning and posted a 76 in the afternoon. Sophomore
Anitra Khoth is currently tied for 44
th place at 14-over par and freshman
Kathleen Keomahavong is tied for 78
th.
