Box Score RENO, Nev. – The Nevada volleyball dropped the first match of a two-match series with Boise State on Friday at Virginia Street Gym. The Broncos took the first two sets 25-17 before winning a tightly contested third set, 25-22 for the 3-0 win.

Nevada fell to 3-8 on the year, while Boise State improved to 9-2. The teams will run it back Saturday morning at 11 at the VSG.

Nevada was paced by freshman
Reka Monteleone, who had nine kills on the day.
Andrea Alcaraz registered 16 assists. Chelsea Vaughn,
Kaila Spevak and
Lexi Applebach each recorded a team-high 10 digs for Nevada.

In the first set, the Broncos used a 5-0 run early to jump in front 11-4 and kept the Pack at bay en route to a 25-17 win. Nevada got six of its points via ace, including two each by
Andrea Alcaraz and
Sydney Petersen.

The story was much of the same for Nevada in the second set as the short-handed Wolf Pack couldn't maintain offensive momentum. After hitting just 0.50 in the first set, Nevada slightly improved to 0.73 in the second, and fell by the same score, 25-17.

Nevada took charge in the third set early, building leads of 9-4 and 14-10 behind three aces and four kills from
Kassie McGill. But Boise State rallied back to tie it at 14 and would eventually take a lead at 16-15 before extending it it to four. Nevada rallied back to tie it at 21 but the Broncos pulled away for the 25-22 win.
